3. Software Transition Kits

HP Software Transition Kits contain tools and documentation to help you transition from older to newer versions of HP-UX, or from Tru64 UNIX, Linux or Solaris to HP-UX 11i.

The HP-UX STK assists you with questions such as:
  • How can I transition my software from older versions of HP-UX to the latest HP-UX release on Integrity servers?
  • How can I take advantage of the new features of the latest HP-UX release?
  • Can I qualify my software (for example, run a 10.x executable on HP-UX 11.x) or do I need to port (create a new HP-UX executable on my destination platform)?
  • Do I want a 32-bit or 64-bit version of my software?

The STK consists of:
  • A set of file scanning tools with associated database and information, which check source files, makefiles, and scripts for identifiers which may indicate transition problems. These tools can also identify opportunities for using enhanced HP-UX features.
  • A library of reference documents and porting guides
    • More reference documents and porting information is available on the STK Web site
  • Man pages (reference pages) or links to man pages on HP Web sites
  • A search engine which searches the man pages, impacts and documents

4. Patch Access

If you are an AllianceOne member you can request access to patches for use on your demonstration, development, and test systems. Your HP Passport account will be enabled to allow you to access patches via the HP Support Center (HPSC). After you agree to the Terms and Conditions you will be taken to a form to request access to patches. This service is to enable you to develop and support your commercial software solutions only and patches obtained in this manner are only for systems used for demonstration, development, or testing purposes — not for production.
